The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is a paramilitary force under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The force was raised on 10 March 1969 with a strength of 2,800 men. CISF plays a pivotal role in protecting industrial undertakings and key infrastructure installations of the country. 

Today, the CISF has grown manifold and is one of the largest forces of its kind in the world. The force is responsible for the security of 60 airports, 4 metro railways, 59 SEZs, 500+ industrial units, nuclear and space installations, sensitive government buildings, and heritage monuments. 

The significance of this day lies in the fact that it is a day to remember and honor those who have served or are serving our nation with distinction. The CISF is one of the many forces that help keep our country safe and secure. We must remember their bravery and dedication on this day. 

Events and Celebrations Organized on This Day 

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is a security force of the Government of India. It was set up under an Act of the Parliament of India on 15 August 1969 with a strength of 2,800 and has since grown to over 1,50,000 personnel. The primary role of the CISF is to provide security to industrial undertakings and government infrastructure projects. 

The CISF celebrates its Raising Day on March 15 every year. On this day, various events and celebrations are organized by the Force to honor its brave personnel. A wreath-laying ceremony is held at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi, followed by a guard of honor at the CISF headquarters. Parades and other cultural programs are also held at all CISF units across the country.
