Maulana Azad - The Fiery Nationalist And Scholar

National Education Day is celebrated to remember the contributions of Maulana Azad to nation-building. Who was he? What did he do? And why should we remember him today? Read on as we explore his life, achievements, and legacy in this blog post.

Education and the Freedom Struggle

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was one of the most important leaders of India's freedom struggle. He was also a renowned scholar and philosopher.

Azad was born in Mecca in 1888. His father, Maulana Khairuddin, was a leading Islamic scholar and a reputed author. Azad received his early education in Arabic and Persian from his father. He also acquired knowledge of the Quran and Hadith (sayings of Prophet Muhammad).

Azad later went to Calcutta to study at the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University. He became involved in the nationalist movement while he was still a student. In 1920, he joined the Indian National Congress and became an active leader in the freedom struggle.

The Role of Women in the Freedom Struggle

Women have always played an important role in the freedom struggle of any nation. They are the backbone of any society and play a vital role in its development. Maulana Azad was no different. He firmly believed that women must be empowered and given their rightful place in society if India was to progress.

He said, "No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you. We are victims of evil customs. It is a crime against humanity that our women have to suffer so much."

Maulana Azad was a strong advocate of women's rights and education. He believed that women must be educated so that they can take their rightful place in society. He said, "If you want to bring real laurels to the country, then educate your women first."
